C&D Paper & Pulp Launches the World’s First Industrial-Scale Palm Pulp Project in Malaysia, Setting a New Green Benchmark for the Belt and Road Initiative

On April 16, 2025, C&D Inc. (600153.SH) Paper & Pulp Group entered into a strategic partnership with Malaysia-based Nextgreen IOI Pulp (NIP) to jointly launch the world’s first industrialized palm pulp project. The signing ceremony was attended by Dato’ Lim Thiam Huat, Managing Director of Nextgreen; Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor, Managing Director and CEO of IOI Group; Mr. Lin Mao, Chairman of C&D Inc.; and Mr. Zhang Xiaohui, General Manager of the C&D Paper & Pulp Group., etc.

Located in the Green Technology Park in Pekan, Pahang, Malaysia, the project marks the first-ever industrial application of palm pulp as a raw material for papermaking. As an innovative and eco-friendly raw material, palm pulp can be used to produce a wide range of paper products. After more than 20 years of continuous research and development, Nextgreen has successfully converted palm planting waste (such as empty fruit bunches) into high-quality pulp raw materials, achieving zero waste discharge and renewable energy utilization, providing a more environmentally friendly and sustainable solution for the pulp industry.

Through this partnership, C&D Paper & Pulp and Nextgreen IOI Pulp will jointly promote the world’s first palm pulp industrialization project, filling a major gap in the global pulp market. In the meantime, C&D Paper & Pulp will leverage its extensive distribution network, broad market reach, and deep supply chain expertise to ensure that the product smoothly enters the market and achieves success.
